Childhood at Glass Key Photo

My photograph, "Scene from an imagined childhood," will be included in Childhood, an exhibition of the San Francisco Toy Camera Group, at Glass Key Photo.

The show runs from May 2 through July 7, 2016, with an opening reception Wednesday, May 4, from 7:00 -9:00 p.m.

Glass Key Photo, which has film, film cameras, darkroom supplies, and root beer, is located at 442 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94117, and can be reached by phone at 415-829-9946.

Creek, Sky, and Trees

Flow, which includes work by 20 artists in a variety of media, will run from April 30 through May 21, 2016. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 - 5:00, with extended hours during Somerville Open Studios weekend (April 30 and May 1) from noon to 6:00. A closing reception is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The Nave Gallery is located at 155 Powder House Blvd., Somerville, MA02144. It is open on the weekends from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Flow was curated by photographer, curator, graphic designer, and Nave Gallery co-founder Michelle Fiorenza and graphic facilitator Kelvy Bird.

 

Rite of Passage at San Francisco City Hall

My photograph, "You know without having seen," will be included in the exhibition, Rite of Passage. This photograph is from my series, "From destruction grows a garden of the soul."

Rite of Passage, presented by Ziya Art Center, celebrates Nowruz, the Persian New Year and includes work that "reflect[s] the unique cultural, spiritual, and creative interpretations of artists who have been working directly in their natural environment or have implemented nature in their art through their creative expression."

The work will be exhibited on video projectors, screens, and monitors this Friday, March 25, at San Francisco City Hall, located at 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, CA 94102-4678. Additional work will be exhibited in Ziya's online gallery.

Rite of Passage was co-curated and juried by Arash Shirinbab and Minoosh Zomorodinia of Ziya Art Center, with the aid of assistant curators Faezeh Faezipour and Shaghayegh Shirinbab.

Square Magazine Special Issue - Holga

My photograph, "From darkness we find each other," is included in a special issue of Square Magazine featuring the Holga, one of my favorite cameras, which ceased production in November 2015.

Here is how Editor-in-Chief Christophe Dillinger introduced this special issue:

To commemorate the demise of the Chinese Holga factory, here is a collection of images taken with the iconic camera, the result of a worldwide call for contribution. We are very proud of the response we got from the artists. Holga is dead, Long live Holga.
