J. M. Golding (in California) and Hélène Barrette (in Quebec) were initially drawn together by their shared love of blurry, black-and-white film photographs, often made through a plastic lens or a pinhole. They collaborated to make lumen prints, each artist showing each other their images and discussing their experiences with the process. Playing With Light / Jeu de Lumière celebrates this collaboration and the dreamlike botanical images that resulted. Playing With Light / Jeu de Lumière displays 42 lumen prints, 21 by each artist, with a brief bilingual (English and French) explanatory text.
